Garisar: a single-estate gourmet pantry, browsable by ingredient

Garisar sells award-winning, high-polyphenol Arbequina extra virgin olive oil alongside wild-harvested preserves, raw honeys, stone-mill tahini and halva, and the storefront had to make every "hidden gem" feel hand-picked.

The brief

Garisar is not a one-product olive oil shop. The catalog spans high-polyphenol Arbequina oil, chestnut and ferula honey, sour cherry jam, wild rosehip and hawthorn marmalade, double-roasted hazelnut paste, stone-mill tahini and halva, plus a sugar-free line. The challenge was turning that sprawling pantry into a storefront where each item still reads as a deliberate, award-grade find rather than supermarket inventory.

  • A wide, mixed catalog (oils, honeys, jams, marmalades, nut pastes, tahini, halva, sugar-free) that needed clear ingredient-type browsing without feeling like a generic grocery
  • Specialty claims like the >600 ppm polyphenol count and the NYIOOC 2025 Gold Medal needed prominent, trustworthy presentation, not buried fine print
  • A single-estate, wild-harvest origin story had to carry through product pages so shoppers understand why these gourmet items command their price

What I built

Gencer Karakaya developed a fully custom Shopify theme in Liquid built around ingredient-led navigation: Olive Oil, Honey, Jam, Marmalade, Paste/Butter, Tahini/Halva, Wild Fruit, Sugar Free and curated Collections. The hero foregrounds the flagship high-polyphenol Arbequina oil, and a "Hidden Gems Of Gourmets" featured grid surfaces eight rotating products. Award badges, polyphenol figures and single-estate provenance are templated so every product page tells the same quality story.
