I have spent 6+ years on Shopify, and about 65 stores have gone through my hands: apparel, mobility, home goods, marble and stone, and a lot of personalized product work for US and international brands. Custom themes, custom apps, API integrations. I keep the code clean and reusable, mostly so the next developer who opens it does not have to guess what I was thinking.
The other half of the job starts after launch: SEO and GEO, Core Web Vitals, the conversion work. Most teams do not need only one of those, so I would rather stay on the store and do both than hand it over halfway.

Who are you?
I'm Gencer Karakaya, a senior Shopify and Shopify Plus developer in Ankara. I've been doing this since 2019, mostly remote, for merchants and a few agencies who bring me in on their client builds.
What do you actually do?
Custom themes and Shopify apps, migrations off Magento, WooCommerce or Salesforce Commerce, ERP and CRM integrations, speed work, technical SEO, A/B testing, Klaviyo automation, and headless builds on Hydrogen. The migrations and the performance work are the two I get asked for most.
